Men who took placebo for 6 weeks saw their libidos stay the same or even decline. Researchers are not yet clear how the fenugreek works to improve libido but it is believed that fenugreek seeds contain bioactive compounds called saponins which may stimulate the production of sex hormones. Researchers think 1 particular saponin named diosgenin might affect production of sex hormones. Diosgenin enhance the level of testosterone which reduces with age. Fenugreek increases the volume of breast milk in new mothers within 24 to 72 hours.

Scientists are not sure how the herb increases the milk supply but it is believed that it stimulates sweat production then it raises breast milk as breasts are modified sweat glands. Once the production of milk has reached enough level, new mothers can discontinue their intake of fenugreek. Fenugreek also helps to decrease cholesterol levels & inflammation led by arthritis as well as helps the people suffering from both types of diabetes. Ancient Egyptians used fenugreek to treat fever. It is also used to cure menopausal or digestive problems. As per latest studies it can increase appetite and control elevated blood sugar levels in diabetics.

Nowadays this herb is accessible in the form of pill but you can also take it in the form of tea. Consuming fenugreek in the tea form is thought to be less potent compared to pills. Fenugreek should be consumed in moderation as high doses of the herb can cause minor side-effects such as nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort. Skin irritations and rashes can be caused by topical use. Pregnant women should consume fenugreek only after consulting the doctor as it can induce labor. People who consume fenugreek pills should always use the herb 2 hours before or after the use of drugs.
