Pour the prepared mixture under the running tap water as you arrange bath. Have your kid to create bubbles and make fun!

Indoor Camping
Who says camping has to be done outside only? If you have a small dome tent or pop-up, it's very simple to set up camp indoors for your children. If you have not these, don’t worry; you can create tents by throwing a sheet over your kitchen table or the couch and camp out underneath. Make camping comfy with pillows, airbeds, and sleeping bags. Then follow all the way through with a rainy-day picnic to be eaten "under canvas" as well as sing campfire songs.

Card Games
These easy games will help your children to pass time indoors. Additionally, card games are simple to play, inexpensive and can incorporate only two players, or everyone in the house. Card games, such as Go Fish and War, Old Maid, Playing Go Fish, Crazy Eights, Uno and a host of other card games are a great rainy day indoor activity for children. For more older children, you can choose card games such as rummy and solitaire.

Signature Storytelling
This is a game to give new life to old stories. Begin telling one of your child's favorite stories or reading their favorite books. When you reach at the critical point in the story, challenge her/him to take charge of the story and add her/his own twist. For example, if you're telling the story of Cinderella and the mean step-sisters have ragged up her dress; ask your kids, "What would they do if someone did that? Should Cinderella do something else, or just run away and cry?" It teaches children to think on their toes.

Perform a Puppet Show
You can also create a simple puppet show theater by using a piece of fabric in a doorway and a spring-loaded curtain rod. Hopefully you have a collection of second hand clothes and frugality store finds in a dress-up box for your children. Children can use these to make costumes for a play, along with you as the audience. Or, they can allow their overfed animals star as puppets, and conceal behind the couch for a theatrical reenactment starring their pretend friends. To create puppets, use socks and craft supplies from around the home and put on a puppet show.

Other games like Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Duck Duck Goose, Around the Rosie, Boggle and the Hookey Pookey can all be done indoors if there is more than one child playing. These are simply the games that don’t need too much space but will still help kids to get in action.

Treatment Guidelines for Dry Eye Syndrome

Dry Eye Syndrome is very common condition that takes place due to inadequate lubrication and wetness in the eyes. In this condition, either your eyes are not able to produce sufficient tears or tears produced by eyes get speedily disappeared. Your eyes get swollen due to speedily evaporate of tears. Dry eye syndrome becomes the reason of discomfort and ache in the eyes so there is need to prevent it. Many treatments are available that gives you relief from Dry Eye Syndrome.

Keratoconjunctivitis sicca is the other name of dry eye syndrome. Increase in tear film evaporation or reduce in the tear production is the common reason of dry eye syndrome. Tear evaporation increases due to thyroid eye disease, swelling in eyelid for long time and blepharitis. Sjögren's syndrome or rheumatoid arthritis situation is responsible for the reduction in the tear production. Tear film has three essential layers, mucous, water and oil. If any of these three layers get problems, it gives you a signs of dry eye syndrome.

High altitudes, dry, hot or gusty weather, air-conditioning and smoking are the causes of dry eyes. You will not suffer from dry eyes, if your eyes are covered by fluid continuously that is called tear film. It remains constant at every blink. Stable tear film helps to give comfortable vision, maintains the eyes clear and avoids the eyes to become dry.

Symptoms of dry eye syndrome

  • Person feels discomfort while wearing contact lenses
  • Stinging and burning sensation in the eyes
  • Eyes feel tiredness after reading at short period of time
  • Person experiences dryness, soreness and grittiness in eyes.
  • Stringy mucus can be found in or around the eyes
  • Extra tearing
  • Eye sensitivity to light smoke and wind
  • Redness of the eyes
  • Unclear vision
  • Eyelids attach jointly while wake up
  • Double vision

Treatment for dry eye syndrome:

Eyelid problems
People who experience eyelid problem or incomplete blinks may have a greater risk of dry eye syndrome. In such a condition, you should consult oculoplastic surgeon. Sometimes person may feel inflammation in eyelid, known as blepharitis. Your doctor may suggest you to clean the affected area by combining baby shampoo with water. Ointment or antibiotic drops and oral antibiotics like tetracycline or doxycycline are recommended by doctor at night time use.

Artificial tear
Artificial tears drops should be suggested in primary case of dry eyes. If you are suffering from constant dry eyes, then you can use artificial tear drops as many times as you want in a day. Safe dose of eye drops include four times in a day. Eye drops, which give you a relief from redness of eyes, should be avoided as it affects your eyes adversely. If you experience dry eyes at night, use thick form of lubricant like ointment.

Medications
Doctor may suggest Cyclosporine or Restasis to treat constant dry eyes as it decreases swelling of the eye surface by making healthy tears. It should be used only under the prescription of doctor because sometimes it leads to eye infection. When the patient does not get result from application of lubricating tear drops and feel continuous irritation in the eye, Steroid drops should be suggested.

Moisture chamber spectacles
Moisture chamber spectacles are just like normal goggles. This spectacle gives a protection from wind and maintains moisture in the eyes. Moisture chamber spectacles are preferred by many people as it has attractive sporty design.

Humidifier
To maintain moist in the air surrounding you, make a use of humidifier at home and at work place. If you can’t afford humidifier for all time, install humidifier in winter time to moist dry indoor air. Or to maintain moist in air, you can spray your curtains with water.

Clean your eyes
Try to keep your eyes clean by water but do not use boiling water. Upper and lower eyelid can be cleaned with the help of cotton bud. Massage your eyes softly in a circular motion by using clean finger. This will help to remove mucus-like fluid from the eyelid glands.

Diet
To avoid dry eyes, include foods that are rich in omega-3 fats in your daily diet as it is used in tears production. Oily fish like sardines, salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, flax oil, hemp oil, olive oil, hemp seed, soybeans, ground flax seed, pumpkin seeds, canola oil and English walnuts have rich quantity of omega 3 fats. Rich source of potassium such as almonds, bananas, wheat germ, dulse, avocados, raisins, dates etc can be taken to avoid dry eyes.

Surgical option
Salivary gland transplantation is suggested when non surgical treatments do not give result. Some salivary glands of lower lip are implanted into the side of the eyes. They produce saliva that acts as a substitute for tears.

Temporary or Permanent Punctal Occlusion is available to treat dry eyes syndrome. If the temporary Punctal Occlusion works well and produce the sufficient tears then Permanent Punctal Occlusion surgery should be recommended.

Guidelines for the prevention of dry eyes syndrome

  • Boston Scleral Lens contact lens should be inserted on the white part of the eye, sclera. It generates fluid layer over the cornea that prevents dry eyes syndrome.
  • Maintain monitor of your computer below your eye level.
  • Stay away from smoking to prevent dry eyes.
  • Use eyes drops before eye starring activities including reading and computer operating.
  • Do not open your eyes to car heaters, electric fans, air conditioners, hair dryers and keep away from blow air into your eyes.
  • Do not rub your eyes as it put dry eyes in worse condition.
  • Drink at least ten glasses of water every day.
  • If you want to go for natural remedy, use Primrose Oil to treat dry eyes.
  • Many women feel dry eyes during the breast feeding and pregnancy. Thus, just make some alteration in your diet program and apply more drops in these times.

Neuroaids- A Disease of Memory Loss in HIV+ Patient

HIV/AIDS (human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is primarily an immune system disorder but it also has an effect on the nervous system and may lead to a number of severe neurological disorders. NeuroAIDS, the novel neurologic disorders, are prime consequence of damage to the peripheral and central nervous system by HIV. The clinical syndromes of Neuroaids include myelopathy, sensory neuropathy, cognitive/motor disorder, brain infections, HIV dementia, and disorders of the muscle and spinal cord. In spite of potent antiretroviral therapy, many people who have HIV, experience amnesia (Memory Loss) and other cognitive problems.

Neuroaids- A Disease of Memory Loss in HIV+ Patient

Any part of the nervous system such as spinal cord, the brain, nerves, or muscle can be affected by HIV. Depending on involved part, symptoms of Neuroaids in infected individuals may vary from memory loss, dizziness, headache, numbness, weakness, vision changes, pain or trouble walking. Neurologic disorders such as primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) and opportunistic infections may occur only in patients with AIDS at advanced stage. While neurologic conditions like HIV-associated dementia and HIV-associated neuropathy may occur even in patients with AIDS at well-controlled HIV stage.

Other nervous system obstacles that occur as a result of the drugs used to treat disease or disease itself include pain, shingles, seizures, lack of coordination, spinal cord problems, anxiety disorder, difficult or painful swallowing, fever, depression, vision loss, destruction of brain tissue, gait disorders, and coma.  These symptoms may become mild to severe progressively with the increasing stages of AIDS.

Antiretroviral treatment slows the development of HIV disease by suppressing HIV replication in 40-60 % of HIV-infected people. Even after Antiretroviral treatment, mild-to-moderate neurological deficits may develop in some cases and full-blown dementia may develop up to 5 percent patient. These all complications are communally known as NeuroAIDS. Until now, researchers were not able to explain this medical mystery. But researchers of Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University have solved this longstanding medical secrecy. 29th June issue of The Journal of Neuroscience published their findings.

As founded by Einstein researchers in a previous study, HIV infects about 5 % of brain cells known as astrocytes. Astrocytes bolster a network of blood vessels called the blood-brain barrier (BBB) which prevents voyage of harmful substances from the bloodstream into the brain. Even a minute level of astrocyte infection can deeply damage the BBB, as shown by the researchers. Toxic signals have been emitted by few infected astrocytes through specialized channels which may kill neighboring uninfected astrocytes. This may lead to weakening of the BBB and after that allow the harmful complexes to enter the brain, as said by Joan Berman, Ph.D., professor of pathology and of microbiology & immunology at Einstein. A laboratory model of the BBB which is constructed from human cells and an examination of HIV infected brain tissue of macaque monkeys give the evidence of this mechanism. So the drugs which have capacity to reduce cascade of damaging signals triggered by infected astrocytes might help in treating or preventing NeuroAIDS.

Sjogren's Syndrome : Symptoms & Treatment

Sjogren's syndrome is a severe autoimmune disorder in which White blood cells (lymphocytes) attack and destroy the moisture-producing glands like tears and saliva producing glands, so the production of saliva and tears reduces. The name Sjogren's syndrome is given after a Swedish ophthalmologist, Dr.Henrik Sjögren, it was called "keratoconjunctivitis sicca" in the early 1900s. The main symptoms of the disorder include dry eyes and dry mouth (sicca complex) along with a range of other symptoms like fatigue and joint pain. In few cases, lymphocytes also affect internal organs such as the nervous system, the kidneys, the intestines, the lungs and the liver.
Sjogren's Syndrome : Symptoms & Treatment
Sjogren's syndrome is classified in 2 types: primary or secondary. Primary Sjogren's syndrome occurs on its own alone; secondary Sjogren's syndrome is seen in association with another disease, such as systemic lupus erythematosis (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatic diseases are conditions affecting bones, skin, joints and muscles. It is most often observed in elderly and middle-aged women, especially in white women. 0.1%-3% population of the United States and 3-4% of adults in the UK are affected by Sjögren's syndrome. It is the 2nd most common autoimmune disease after rheumatoid arthritis. It often occurs in people having other rheumatic disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosis, scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis.

Symptoms of Sjogren's Syndrome

The Symptoms are varying from person to person. Symptoms of this syndrome are the result of smashed exocrine glands and can affect the mouth, eyes, nose, throat, digestive system, airways, skin and vagina. The two main symptoms are:
  • Extremely dry eyes (xerophthalmia) which cause a blurry vision with a gritty, dry, itchy or burning sensation in the eyes.
  • Extremely dry mouth (xerostomia) causing difficulty in chewing, talking and swallowing. It may decrease sense of taste and increase dental cavities. Sometimes redness and cracks in the corners of the mouth.
The other symptoms are common and can be caused by other medical disorders, anxiety and by some medications.
  • Dry or blazing throat which leads continual dry cough
  • Recurrent bronchitis and pneumonia
  • Inflammation of the salivary glands on both side of your face
  • Increased thirst
  • A sore or cracked tongue
  • A change in smell or taste
  • Dry or flaking lips
  • Dryness of skin with rashes
  • Dryness of nose
  • Fatigue

  • Augmented dental decay
  • Digestive problems
  • Abnormalities of thyroid gland
  • Swelling of the liver, kidneys, lungs, or pancreas
  • Joint pain, inflexibility and inflammation
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), which may comprise tummy (lower abdominal) pain
  • Sometimes red-purple skin lesions occur on the legs because of inflammation of blood vessels in the skin
  • Irritation of the nerves in the hands, arms, feet or legs (neuropathy)

Treatment of Sjogren's Syndrome

Sjogren’s syndrome can not to be cured totally but with early detection and treatment, you can minimize the symptoms and risk of complications.

Number of treatments are available that can relieve the symptoms.

Self-assist
You can do many things by yourself to control your symptoms.
  • Avoid too much sweet foods or alcohol to reduce the dryness of mouth. If you have habit of smoking, try to stop it because it worsens symptoms. Suck ice cubes or take small sips of water throughout the day to maintain your mouth moist.
  • If your eyes become dry, irritable or sore, then stay away from smoky, dusty and air-conditioned environments. Use contact lenses or specialist spectacles to reduce dryness.
  • If your skin becomes dry, then take shower besides bath and moisturize it regularly.
  • Chew sugarless pastilles or chewing gum to increase production of saliva.
  • Regular clean your teeth and use dental floss to avoid symptoms of tooth decay.
  • Use of humidifier in your sitting room/bedroom is also helpful.
  • To avoid vaginal dryness use lubricants, such as oestrogen creams and KY jelly.
  • Balance exercise and rest. Balanced exercise programs may help patients to overcome joint and muscle pain, maintain flexibility and overcome fatigue.
Medicines
It is a chronic disease which has no cure; but, by using moisture replacement therapies you can relieve dryness. These include preservative-free artificial saliva's, artificial tears, vaginal lubricants, saline nasal sprays and unscented skin lotions. Try different options until you get the best suitable option for you. Consult specialists such as Ophthalmologist, Otolaryngologist, Dentists for specific complications of Sjögren's syndrome.

By use of mouth lubricants, saliva substitutes and artificial teardrops, you can moist your mouth, throat and eyes.
  • Artificial saliva may be recommended by your specialist, if you have a complaint of dry mouth. Artificial saliva is available in the form of a gels, mouth spray or lozenges. Some of them also contain fluoride.
  • Artificial tears are useful but frequently they do not last long enough. So use of thicker preparations which lasts longer is recommended. Eye drops or ointments are useful to control the dryness of eyes. Use them several times a day. Many different types of ointments and eye drops are available. Your pharmacist or specialist can advise you which one is most suitable for you. Eye drops which contain cyclosporine may increase tear production and treat swelling in the glands around the eyes. Antibiotics are also available to treat eye redness, pain and swelling.
  • For a fungal infection in mouth, your specialist may recommend an antifungal medication such as miconazole oral gel. If you have a complaint of ulcers in your mouth, your specialist may recommend an ointment to apply on the ulcers.
  • Pilocarpine may be prescribed by your specialist to stimulate saliva and tear production. But this medicine has several side-effects and may not work for all people having Sjögren’s syndrome.
  • For vaginal dryness, use of Estrogen creams may be recommended by your specialist.
  • To relieve joint and muscle pain, steroid medicines may be prescribed. Sometimes, DMARDs (Disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs) such as methotrexate are prescribed to relieve dry skin and joint pain and also prescribed when the internal organs are affected by disease.
  • Painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen may help to relieve painful joints associated with syndrome. Mild pain-relieving medications such as acetaminophen or Motrin or Aleve may help to reduce joint or muscle pain.
Hospital treatment
  • When artificial tears are not sufficient, surgery which slows the disappearance of tears by sealing or blocking the tear ducts is another treatment option. Punctal occlusion may be suggested by an ophthalmologist to prevent the tear ducts that drain tears from eyes.

Yoga for Diabetes Cure

An ancient method of exercise, yoga maintains all functions of the body and mind at their optimum level. Almost all diseases can be controlled well by yoga, including diabetes - the 'Mother of all Diseases'. Diabetes takes place when the body becomes unable to produce sufficient amount of insulin hormones to break down the ingested sugar. Insulin helps to regulate the blood sugar by converting it into energy. Due to insufficient amounts of insulin in the body, the sugar gets accumulated in the blood, leading to number of symptoms like unusual thirst, fatigue, loss of weight, excessive urination and many other complications. Yoga can effectively aid diabetes cure by massaging internal organs of the body, particularly triggering glandular systems accountable for its cause.
Yoga for Diabetes Cure
There are many breathing techniques and postures in yoga which would stimulate the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin for controlling the sugar level in the body. These yoga postures restore the pancreatic cell as well as stimulate them to secrete insulin. Diabetes yoga normalizes endocrine glandular system which discharges hormones into general circulation. Some diabetes yoga’s are tough to practice for beginners so require a trainer to guide. Practice simplified diabetes yoga for about 2 to 3 months and then switch over to regular diabetes yoga. Some of the yoga Asanas have been proved helpful to control and reverse type 2 diabetes.

Pranayama
These are very simple breathing exercises which provide extensive benefits. By practicing the pranayama, you can cure diabetes. In Hatha Yoga, there are 8 major pranayama techniques which have been shown to be helpful in curing diabetic patients. For Pranayama, alternate nostril breathing or Nadi Shodhan Pranayama is the basic preparation and is found useful in diabetes as it has soothing effect on nervous system, which decreases stress levels and thereby helps to cure diabetes. Some researches have also shown that Bhastrika and Bhramari Pranayama help in diabetes; Bhasrika Pranayama raises oxygen levels and decreases carbon dioxide levels in the blood while Bharamari has calming effect on brain and nervous system.

Kapalabhati Pranayama, AgniSar Kriya, Bahya Pranayama, Udgit pranayama are the other Pranayama techniques which help to cure diabetes. Previous to practicing all these Pranayama techniques, an individual must study and practice deep breathing, alternate nostril breathing, fast breathing, and Bandhas (chin lock or jalandhar bandha, Uddiyan bandha and moola bandha or abdominal lock) from the expert Guru.

Yogamudrasana and Mandukasana
These yoga postures put pressure on the internal organs, particularly on the stomach and the pancreas and thereby stimulate their activity. Yogamudrasana is performed by sitting in Padmasana while Madukasana is practiced by sitting in Vajrasana. To treat diabetics and other diabetic related problems, the aforementioned pranayama techniques and Madukasana along with Yogamudrasana are more than enough. However, you can also practice few other asanas for maximum benefits.

Ardha Matsyendrasana

However, once you become master to practice it, the pose offers enormous benefits to help the pancreas recover. It can regulate the bile and adrenaline secretion and is recommended in the diabetes management. It massages the kidneys, pancreas, small intestines, stomach, gall bladder and liver, helping to stimulate digestion and squeeze out toxins.

Paschimottasana
This yoga pose is good for diabetics as it is known to promote the functioning of the internal organs such as kidneys, pancreas, and the liver. This is asana is a forward seated bend posture as is performed by placing head on knees and reaching to toes. For its beneficiary effect, it should be repeated two or three times.

Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand)
This mysterious yoga provides wonderful benefits. This yoga is for parathyroid & thyroid glands which are positioned in the neck region. It increases the fresh blood supply to these glands due to the firm chin-lock in sarvangasana. Due to the ample supply of blood, the working efficiency of these glands is increased. These glands regulate carbohydrate, protein, vitamin and fat metabolism and thereby human cells use energetic compounds.

Halasana (Plough pose)
Halasana, the yoga for diabetes is best to perform after sarvangasana. It revitalizes pancreas and spleen and activates digestion by massaging all the internal organs. It improves kidney and liver functions and strengthens the abdominal muscles. As well, it rejuvenates the mind and regulates the thymus and thyroid gland.

Child Pose diabetes yoga
This diabetes yoga pose is a relaxation pose which is generally used to regularize the circulation after the Head Stand. This yoga posture also helps to relieve fatigue and stress, and calms the mind.

Shalabhasana (Locust posture)
This yoga is particularly effective for treating indigestion and acidity. In conjunction with the other two asanas, it aids the digestive system and supports the pancreas and the liver to tone up.
