How to reduce stomach acidity using natural remedies?

Various drugs are available in the market to reduce stomach acidity, but it can carry a number of unwanted side effects so it’s better to prefer natural remedies.

The fast-food consumption is increasing worldwide, but there are certain foods which can cause acidity. Stomach acid, also called Gastric Acid, is more common in the morning when the stomach is empty. Proper levels of stomach acid are required for digestion of food, but excess stomach acid can cause severe problems and painful symptoms including chest pain or heart burn, gas and bloating, burning in the back of your throat after burping (called acid reflux), a burning feeling in your stomach, etc. Most acidity problems occur after eating certain foods, eating very quickly without chewing food properly, or lying down soon after eating. If you have acidity problems, then you take a drug often to get rid of it. However, these drugs have many unnecessary side effects. Thus, it is advisable to use natural remedies to decrease stomach acidity. All the things required to consume to reduce stomach acidity are available in your kitchen shelf.

Natural treatments for reducing excess stomach acids

  • Take a piece of pineapple, and sprinkle sugar and pepper on it. Then eat the pineapple to get rid of acidity.
  • Add sugar to white onion juice and then drink it to get relief from acidity. You can also prefer pumpkin juice in place of white onion juice.
  • In half liter of water, add the juice of 1 lemon and half a teaspoon of sugar. Drink this juice half an hour before taking your lunch for getting relief from acidity.
  • Take a spoon of amla juice, few black grapes and half a teaspoon honey. Mix all of them and eat it to get rid of acidity.
  • Eat the chutney made up of cardamom, sugar and kokum to reduce stomach acidity.
  • Take equal amounts of mixture of grapes, harada and sugar, and then eat it to get rid of stomach acidity.
  • Take equal amounts of ginger, sugar and amla, and then mix them well to make a powder and eat it.
  • Drinking carrot juice helps to get relief from acidity. Drinking 100 to 200 grams of milk added with a little sugar and 4-5 black pepper powder is also helpful.
  • Eat Tulsi leaves with yogurt or buttermilk to deal with acidity. Take 1 teaspoon of amla powder daily in morning and night to reduce excess stomach acid.
  • Taking powder of Coriander and Ginger with water helps to get rid of stomach acidity. After meal, if you feel burning sensation in the chest because of acidity, then intake coriander-cumin seeds powder along with sugar.
  • Drink an organic glass of fat-free or low-fat milk to help standardize the pH in your stomach, if you have a bout of excess stomach acid.
  • Chop few mint leaves and then boil in a cup of water and sip gradually after meals. Drink fresh mint juice daily to get rid of acidity.
  • Eat non-citrus fruits like apples, bananas, cucumbers and watermelon, as it could help neutralize stomach acids.
  • Don’t eat foods like fried foods, hot spicy foods, vinegar, pickles, pastries, chocolate, and raw salad vegetables such as onion, cabbage, radish, and peppers.
  • Make a drink by mixing half a teaspoon of baking soda with 8 ounces of water. You can drink up to a maximum daily dose of 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Baking soda helps to directly reduce the acid in the stomach, neutralize, and prevent stomach contents back into the esophagus.
  • Intake the powder of one clove and one cardamom as a mouth freshener after every meal, and be free from acidity and bad breathe.
  • Cut down on drinking alcohol and quit smoking.
