Five Simple And Quick Steps For Skin Care Regimen

1. Cleansing

The first and the most basic step of the skin care regimen is cleansing. Cleansing removes the dead skin cells, dirt accumulated in the pores, oil, impurities and sweat as well as prepares your skin for makeup application. If the dirt is not removed, it can cause patchy skin, whiteheads, premature ageing, acne, blemishes, pimples, shallowness, blackhead and wrinkles. You should wash your face two times a day with a mild foam cleanser or disposable facial cleansing cloth. Non-foaming cleanser or a creamy cleanser is good for normal to dry skin while oil-free gel cleanser is good for oily skin. Always use facial and body cleansers rather than deodorant and antibacterial soaps. Never use alcohol or soap to cleanse the skin. Cleansers that contain sodium laurel sulfate, glycolic or salicylic acids make your skin dry so try to avoid them.

2. Exfoliate

After cleansing, exfoliation is the next step of your skin care regimen. Exfoliation is very essential for removing dead skin layer & deep-seated dirt in the pores and unblocking the pores. The accumulation of dead cells can leads to pores blockage and also makes the skin to look dull. Exfoliation makes the skin smooth, bright, clean and fresh. It exposes the fresher-looking skin as well as increases the production of new skin cells and the blood circulation in the skin. Exfoliation should not be done every day as it can damage the skin. Use mild exfoliators with soft and natural granules once in a week.

3. Toning

The third step is toning that helps to lock the goodness of clear skin. A toner calms & soothes skin, kills the underlying bacteria and cleans the residues left after the cleansing process. It also normalizes the pH balance of your skin as well closes the opened pores (because of cleansing lotion). Toning should be done twice a day just after cleansing. Use a cotton pad to apply toner. People with oily to combination skin can use astringent-type toners while people with normal to dry skin can use toners that have a nourishing effect. It is better to avoid alcohol-based toners as they have drying effect on the skin.

4. Moisturizing

The cleansers, exfoliation and toners strip off the natural moisture of the skin and you can be left with wrinkly, flaky and dry skin. So, you should apply moisturizer to replenish the moisture. Moisturizing the skin makes it soft, hydrated, healthy, nourished and supple. Moisturizers go through the skin and repair and rehydrate the tissues. Moisturizing process is as simple as apply baby oil after the shower. Apply a light moisturizer on your face, neck, elbows and heels. Never apply excess moisturizer as it can cause clogged pores and blackheads. Use water based or oil-free moisturizers if you have oily skin, and use cream/oil based moisturizers if you have dry skin. You can also use moisturizer with sunscreen or sun-block to protect your skin from sun damage.

5. Muscle Toning

The last and final step of your skin care regimen is muscle toning. It improves the look of your face and prevents sagging & wrinkles. It also improves your skin tone by increasing the blood circulation. Simply, pull the sagging area of your face in the opposite direction with the help of finger tips for around 5 to 10 seconds.
