Depressive episodes take place frequently and they are more intense compared to manic episodes. Highest risk of suicide is associated with the sufferer of this condition. Sometimes Hypomania in Bipolar Disorder 2 can be considered as an elavation of mood at where mood may be negative. Warning signs of bipolar disorder can be found in the people at the age of teens or twenties, which includes sudden high in good feelings, insomnia etc. Sometimes, it also appeared after the age of 50.

Bipolar disorder is a category of mood disorders that characterized by the presence of one or more episodes of abnormally raised energy levels, mood, and cognition with or without one or more episodes of depression. The person, who is suffering from this disorder, may experience mood swing from one extreme to another. Bipolar disorder is also known as the manic-depressive disorder which causes mood swings, shifts in energy, behavior and thinking from highs of mania on one side to the lows of depression on other side. Bipolar II is one of the four types of Bipolar disorder. Bipolar II disorder can be described as the occurrence of one or more major depressive episodes along with at least one hypomanic episode.
